A Brief Visit to Bondi

Our temporary accommodations are in Bondi Junction, which is the train stop closest to Bondi Beach. On Tuesday, we decided that we needed a break from apartment hunting and headed to the beach. I wanted a nice walk so we took our chances on the weather, we have been hit hard with afternoon storms lately, and went on foot. The walk was long (about 45 minutes) and not too scenic. I am more inclined to take the bus from now on, but I am glad that we did it on foot once. The walk made us aware that the journey to Bondi is all downhill so a return walk from the beach would be quite the athletic endeavor.

Once we arrived, I thought the beach was really beautiful for being such a high traffic area. I have heard that Coogee beach which is a few miles south is more scenic, but Bondi was quite lovely to me.

John and I stuck our toes in the water and were surprised by how cold it was! Cecilia will have to wait until the weather is warmer to experience the ocean water for the first time.

The storm clouds enticed us to grab a bus home after about an hour at Bondi. I am sure we will visit again soon when the weather is more agreeable. Apparently many Australians celebrate Christmas on the various beaches, so we might participate in those festivities this year.

I’ve been there, and it is surprisingly pretty for how busy it is. I think it helps that the beach is so wide. I was sad to miss your farewell in NC and am super excited to follow your new adventures!
